One of the main characteristics of the Japanese is that their culture is a very interesting mix of old and new, a mix between ancient myths, legends and traditions and the latest technological developments.
And one of the best examples of this mix is the Mottainai Flash Drive from SolidAlliance, a device that can hold up to 2 GB of data, but looks as if it was taken out of the jewelry box belonging to one the last shoguns of Japan.
Thus - as you can see from the picture - the flash memory chip is inserted into a very stylish and exquisite bronze box and also features some crystals, which light up in a very interesting manner (due to a LED installed underneath, of course) whenever some piece of data is transferred.

The Mottainai is pretty big for a flash drive (102 x 19 x 8 mm, 55 grams), and it doesn't have that much storage space (2 GB), but it does have that special Japanese spirit that kind of makes up for the lack of storage resources.
However, another trait of the Japanese is that they're very practical. And since this piece of technological jewelry costs around 100.000 Yen (850 US dollars), they've designed it in such a manner that the user can always unscrew the outer casing and replace the flash chip with another one, of higher storage capacity. Thus, this traditional casing will always stay with you, even if the capacity increases. Talk about upgradability!
