Since the super giant introduced the My Maps function which allows consumers to build their own maps, numerous Internet users were lured by it and an avalanche of mashups invaded us. Some of them are quite useless while some can be very useful if you really need them. This one belongs to the second
category as it is able to provide you the latest information about the weather in your home city. The Weather Map uses the information provided by The Weather Channel and is based on the scripts offered by Yahoo Pipes, the Weather Channel's API, as the developer mentions.

The service allows you to add several cities to the list and get several weather details such as the current conditions and the forecast for the next days. In addition, you can access the full forecast provided by The Weather Channel. All you need to do to start using the service is press the 'Add City' button and add your home or your favorite town to the list. Then, by clicking on the entry on the left, you can view the city on Google Maps along with the information mentioned above.

What's most interesting is that the service is based on the Google accounts so you are able to save the list of your selected cities. The Mountain View company sustains that there is no danger in entering your password in the login form because the service is not saving them on the servers.

"You are sharing your email address with weather. weather uses Google Accounts for sign in. Google shares your email address, but not your password or any other information about your Google Account. weather may use your email address to personalize your experience on their website. weather will retain any information you provide or preferences you set while using the website," the login page reads.
