Country singer Trace Adkins seemed to have everything under control as far as his alcohol addiction was concerned but he relapsed just recently, while on a cruise ship, it has emerged. He’s already checked into rehab.

The singer, who also has several very successful film and television appearances under his belt, started drinking again, which became very clear on Monday, when, obviously intoxicated, he got into a fight with a Trace Adkins impersonator.

TMZ says that the impersonator was doing karaoke at the time of the incident, but doesn’t offer more details about what started the altercation. It does say though that Adkins, the real one, had been drinking.

Eventually, things cooled down, with the upside to a very nasty incident being that it was the wake-up call the singer needed to realize that he had a problem again and, as such, that he needed help to deal with it before it got even more out of control.

As his fans probably know, Adkins first checked into rehab in 2001, after he was involved in a tractor accident that sidelined him for enough time to cancel concerts. He’s been sober for a very long time before this most recent mishap.

On the bright side, he’s already sought help, the same media outlet assures us.

“We're told once the boat docked in Jamaica... Trace jumped ship. We're told he's now in rehab. Trace and the impersonator in question previously met in 2007,” TMZ writes.

At the time, the two happily posed for pictures together, but there’s no telling whether they liked each other.

Last October, Adkins released his first ever Christmas album, “The King’s Gift.” As far as the media knows, he’s never been a violent individual but, if the report above is accurate, it seems that alcohol does bring out the worst in him – at least on this particular instance.
