Japanese automotive manufacturer Toyota says that is has recently sold its 100,000 hybrid in the United Kingdom, and that this just goes to show that people living in this country are quite enthusiastic about eco-friendly vehicles and what they have to offer.

In a press release on the matter at hand, the automaker details that its 100,000th hybrid sold in the United Kingdom is a British-built Auris Hybrid Touring Sports in top-of-the-range Excel trim whose hybrid system includes a 1.8-litre VVT-i petrol engine.

“Notably, a fleet customer will be taking delivery of the 100,000th UK hybrid, reflecting the advantages of low company car tax rates and running costs and high reliability,” Toyota wishes to stress.

In case anyone was wondering, it was back in 2014 that the automotive manufacturer introduced folks in said country to its first-generation Prius. Thus, it was on 19 October 2000, the first day of the British International Motor Show, that the automaker launched sales of this eco-friendly car.

The company has come a long way since then, and it now markets as many as 6 different hybrids in the United Kingdom, the same source tells us. These include superminis, family hatchbacks, and MPVs that can accommodate up to seven people at a time.
