The miniature desktop enclosures support mini-ITX mainboards

Lian Li started out by introducing bizarre PC enclosures that weren't even meant to be sold, like spider-shaped, red mini chassis and train locomotive-shaped models, but it has its share of commercially-available models too.

It has to, if it is to stay in the game and make enough money on the side to fund its more crazy projects. That is why the PC-Q27 and PC-Q28 came to be.

They are compact, more or less cube-shaped enclosures that measure 200mm x 300mm x 240mm (7.8" x 11.8" x 9.4") and 227mm x 305mm x 345mm (8.9" x 12.0" x 13.5"), respectively.

The former has a 5.25-inch bay, which can be used for a 3.5-inch drive instead if buyers so wish, bringing the total of potential HDDs to three.

A single 2.5-inch unit can be installed on the bottom of the case, although the front HDD cage can be used for a second drive of the sort.

No fans are present, since small PCs don't have hardware that makes all that much heat, so passive cooling it is.

As for I/O, there are two USB 3.0 ports on the right side of the front of the chassis.

The PC-Q28, meanwhile, has removable HDD cages, held in place by thumbscrews (so no tools are needed).

It also has front and rear feet, like its sibling for that matter, which is good because in absence of front ventilation, there isn't much incentive for air to move in and out of the case.

There is one fan at the front though, yet it draws the air from the bottom vent. A dust filter is installed over it. A second fan rests at the top, for exhaust.

Overall, it is an odd layout, but Lian Li is confident it can score a decent number of buyers.

Sales of the Lian Li PC-Q27 and PC-Q28 will be available in May in the USA, for $78.99 / €60.31 – 78.99 and $118.99 / €90.92 – 118.99, respectively.
