The development team at The Creative Assembly announces that it is delivering a new update for Total War: Rome II, designed to add an entirely new, richly detailed model for the African elephant and to expand the unit roster of the Epirus faction.

In an official announcement, the studio explains that all the content is offered for free in order to improve the overall experience that all players have with the strategy title.

On the forums, the development team adds that, "We’ve also rounded out the unit-roster of Epirus with some tasty extras. They can now recruit Thessalian Cavalry, Royal Peltasts and Illyrian Coastal Levies to bolster their forces. Plus, you’ll find Epirus gets a brand-new Mercenary Indian War Elephant unit to hire."

It's unclear whether the update for Total War: Rome II makes any sort of change to the core mechanics or to the unit balance.

The company has said that it will support the title in the long term with both updates and downloadable content.
