Gamers will have to download a small patch on launch

The development team at The Creative Assembly and publisher SEGA announce that their upcoming Total War: Rome II is at the moment available for pre-load through Steam, which means that all those who have bought the game can now download the title.

This means that, on launch day, the service will just need to decrypt the files and then apply the small Pontus playable patch in order to make the game ready to go.

The worldwide unlock time for Total War: Rome II is set at 0:00 on September 3 United States Pacific Time, which means that gamers in Europe will get access to the game at 9:00 Central European Time.

The new strategy game will mix land and naval battles for the first time in the history of the series and will introduce a range of new mechanics for warfare, diplomacy, and politics.
