The development team at The Creative Assembly and publisher SEGA are announcing that they are launching two new content packs for their strategy title Total War: Rome II, designed to give gamers more options when it comes to the composition of the armies that they are taking to the battlefield.

The August Warriors update is free for all those who own the core game and is designed to allow players to recruit Hex-Bearers, Amazonian Riders and Scythian Noblewomen for a nmber of factions and a new lineup is offered to gamers who are looking to play as the Suebi.

Players can now recruit:

Horse Runners - These fleet-of-foot warriors can strike hard and fast from cover, making them the elite of the Suebi skirmishers;

Spear Wall - The most defensive spear unit in the Suebi roster, Spear Wall is a bulwark against even the most powerful cavalry;

Round Shield Swordsmen - Their high weapon damage makes the Round Shield Swordsmen fearsome combatants who punch above their weight;

Riders of the Hunt - Few warriors have faced a charge from these terrifying, frenzied horsemen and lived to tell the tale.

The other piece of content is called Daughters of Mars Unit Pack and is a paid DLC which will allow fans of Total War: Rome II to get access to some capable female warriors who can easily go head to head against their male rivals.

The Creative Assembly adds, "Whether in defence of their homelands, or called upon to fulfil their part in glorious conquest, female combat units featured throughout the ancient world. Adding a swift and deadly mix of fighting styles and abilities to the fray, generals will wisely place value on those who aspire to be the avatar of the war gods themselves!"

Gamers can now use:

Gladiatrices - seen in Italy they are battle hardened and ready to fight using heavy weapons, better at defense than their male counterparts;

Mercenary Kushite shieldwomen - Nubian fighters with both agility and killing power, good against cavalry;

Lusitani Swordswomen - able to charge with a frenzied fervor and capable to perform well in the woods;

Cimbri Bow-Women - able to use cover in order to strike quickly and at great range;

Spear Gladiatrices - better able to face an enemy assault;

Gorgo’s Skirmishers - skirmishers with better attack and faster rate of fire;

Spearwomen - recruitable by the Suebi and in the germanic areas.
