The development team at The Creative Assembly is getting ready to deliver today the new Emperor Edition version of Total War: Rome II, and as the company performs a number of necessary steps before the full content goes live, players can take a look at the changes that are being introduced to the core mechanics of the title.

The official forum announcement states, “Because it’s a mix of new game, DLC and update there’s a bunch of internal and external server and process stuff that needs to happen. This is annoying (I want to play!), but it’s all happening and working its way through at the moment and we will let you know here on this forum, our Twitter and Facebook as soon as the update is live.”

The changes are extensive and come alongside the 15th full update for Total War: Rome II, which are also designed to modify the way some core aspects of the title are working.

Listening to the fan community

The developers are saying that the lives of all characters on the strategy map have been extended by an average of about 20 years in order to make them more useful in the long term and to allow gamers to create stories around them, while the various traits have also been modified in terms of effect and acquisition.

There are also extensive changes to the battles, with some units getting new formations, some bugs fixed and smarter Artificial Intelligence that knows how to best use its elephants.

There are also changes to the provinces, the way certain buildings work, and the user interface has been improved.

So far, the community has reacted well to the changes introduced to Total War: Rome II, although undoubtedly some issues will be found once the Emperor Edition is finally out.

Trying to become Caesar

The new version of the game includes all the free downloadable contents and the patches that have been delivered by The Creative Assembly until now, although gamers will still have to pay in order to get the two campaigns, Hannibal at the Gates and Caesar in Gaul.

In the Emperor Edition for Total War: Rome II, players will also be able to choose from ten factions in a new scenario, with a variety of factions and outside powers fighting to dominate the world after the death of Julius Caesar.

The developers are saying that an entirely new title in the franchise will be shown before the end of the month.
