James Russell, the lead designer working on Total War: Rome 2, says that The Creative Assembly is creating a new image capture technology for the upcoming strategy game in order to increase the visceral nature of the combat sequences.

He tells VG247 that, “One of the big things that we’re trying to do for Rome 2 is to make the men in combat feel and look much more convincingly human, so that it’s more visceral and brutal.”

He adds, “We want it to look like these are men are really fighting their guts out for you.”

The article goes into more details about how motion capture can increase the quality of Total War: Rome 2 and how it can also be used in other future Creative Assembly titles, including their Aliens project.

Total War: Rome 2 will be launched on the PC before the end of the year.
