The development team at The Creative Assembly and publisher SEGA announce that Total War: Rome 2 is set to be launched on the PC on September 3 of this year.

Those who are willing to place a pre-order for the game will get access to the first downloadable content pack, called the Greek States Culture Pack, for free.

It will add Epirus, Athens and Sparta as playable factions to Total War: Rome 2.

All the included civilizations come complete with their own units, mission, buildings and win conditions.

Sparta itself adds an extra difficulty level to Rome 2.

The new Total War uses an improved game engine, which will allow naval and land units to fight on the same map.

There are also improvements to the overall capabilities of the computer-controlled factions.

The Steam based pre-orders for Rome 2 are already live.
