Developer The Creative Assembly and publisher SEGA have announced that their Total War: Rome 2 strategy title is the most pre-ordered title in the history of the franchise, based on data from the first week of availability.

The new game is posting six times the figures of its predecessor, Total War: Shogun 2 and the Collector’s Edition, which includes an onager and card game, has also seen an increase in pre-orders.

Those who get Rome 2 before launch will get access to the Greek States Culture Pack, which includes Sparta, Athens and Epirus for free on launch day.

SEGA also says that during 2012, the Total War franchise has managed to generate 2 million in sales despite the fact that only an expansion was launched.

Total War: Rome 2 will be launched on September 3 on the PC.
