The development team at The Creative Assembly has launched four new screenshots for their upcoming Total War: Rome 2, all of them heavy on war imagery and designed to show the way the new game will enhance the portrayal of land and naval engagements.

The new engine used for the game will allow players to have ships and land armies on one map at the same time, something that wasn’t possible in previous games in the series and open up new tactical possibilities.

The Creative Assembly is also enhancing the overall look of units, putting more care into offering variety and making sure that they are as close as possible to historical realism.

Total War: Rome 2 will also focus on important politicians and generals and on the decisions that they made to change the course of history.

Total War: Rome 2 will be launched during 2013 on the PC using Steam as an authentication service.
