14 DAY TRIAL // Total Annihilation was one of the games that made the real-time strategy genre and the original creator of the series, Chris Taylor, says that he is interested in updating the game for modern times but is unsure of how to do that.
He tells VG247 that, “you can’t just make a sequel to a game that’s 17 or 16 years old. You have to update and evolve it to fit into the current situation in the market.”
He adds, “do people want something that’s been evolved, or do they want to just go back in time and imagine that it’s 1998, and we’re beginning work on Total Annihilation 2?”
Gas Powered Games is currently owned by Wargaming. It is currently unclear what project the company is working on.
The Chris Taylor-lead team has previously also worked on two other unfinished projects, Kings and Castles and Wildman.
