When asked how to mix the computational power of a solid notebook with portability and elegance, some guy invented the Tablet PC. Toshiba is one of the manufacturers supporting this market, betting on comfort and ease at use as well as on an excellent set of technical specs.

The convertible laptop series from Toshiba expands with the new Satellite R15, featuring a 14.1-inch LCD XGA display (8.5 x 11 inch viewing area) which can be rotated and folded so that the system may resemble a clipboard while the user may comfortably browse using just a digital stylus.

The R15 hardware specs include an Intel Centrino Mobile 725 chipset supporting up to 1.6GHz, 2 Mb of Level 2 cache and a 400 MHz FSB.

The system also includes wireless connectivity, a combo drive (DVD/CD-RW) and a 60 GB hard drive. The Intel Extreme Graphics 2 graphics card can be set to "share" 16 to 64 MB of the 512 MB system RAM (333 MHz, DDR). System connectivity includes three USB 2.0 ports, one RGB port, headset and microphone jacks, PCMCIA Type II slot, FireWire port, modem and network, port S-Video, and 10/100 Ethernet.

System software includes the Microsoft Office OneNote 2003, allowing users to write and draw on the display (preferably using the included stylus) and to manage and search handwritten information.

Satellite R15 weighs less than 3 kilograms, has a maximal 4 hour battery life and operates on the Windows XP Tablet Edition 2005.
