Toshiba is known for many things, from full-fledged PCs to batteries, and it looks like its IFA exhibition will be varied indeed, even including a special memory card of the SDHC variety.

The IFA 2011 trade show in Berlin, Germany will take place between September 2 (tomorrow) and September 7.

This means that many IT companies have already gathered there, eager to show off their respective product collection, both old and new.

Toshiba, understandably enough, is not bound to miss the opportunity to gather some more followers.

According to a press release, it intends to offer something for, among other things, owners of smartphones, PCs, tablets and pretty much anything that has a memory card slot.

More specifically, while the company is sure to reveal a whole range of such devices, there is a certain memory card that can touch on all of the above areas.

Said memory card is of the SDHC variety and, for connectivity purposes, boasts integrated 802.11 b/g/n WiFi support.

Data will be both sent and received, even as the power consumption will be lower compared to that of similar offers from other NAND Flash-making companies.

This means that it will connect wirelessly to any PC, smartphone and tablet (as long as they have wireless networking) instead of only being limited to communicating with a memory card slot.

For those who want some specifications, the card is dubbed FlashAir and has a capacity of 8 GB, plus the Class 6 speed rating (6 MB/s transfer speeds). Also, supported operational temperatures range from-25°C to 85°C and the full weight is 2 grams

November is when sample shipments are set to commence, but prospective buyers will, unfortunately, have to wait quite a bit longer, what with mass production being slated for only February 2012. Certification for wireless communication will be secured in Japan, North America and Europe.
