Toshiba, the Japanese electronics manufacturer, added another handset to its line-up of Mobile TV phones, the Toshiba W61T.

The new phone comes in a (not quite beautiful) clamshell form, with three colors available (white, dark blue and pink), and it's designed mainly for sporty people, offering the "au Smart Sports Run & Walk" feature that can help users get the best out of their training.

The handset packs an internal, wide 2.8 inch AM-OLED screen with a 240 x 400 pixel resolution, weighs 118 grams and, when closed, it measures 98 x 50 x 18.9 millimeters. An uncommon aspect of Toshiba W61T, considering the fact that it's a clamshell, is that it lacks an external display, so anytime you want to check something you'll have to open the phone.

Toshiba W61T has a built-in 3.2 Megapixel CMOS camera with Auto focus, capable of taking pictures at a good quality. The device is compatible with the 1seg Mobile TV broadcasting service and comes with the LISMO Media Player that can provide up to 25 hours of continuous music playback. Other features packed in the new Toshiba clamshell include VGA movie recording at 30 Fps, built-in GPS, FM radio, e-mail and Internet capabilities, Bluetooth, USB, mobile wallet, Japanese to English and English to Japanese dictionary and microSD card support for up to 2GB of external memory. Furthermore, the handset offers the EZ news flash service to deliver the latest news and weather forecasts, as well as the EZ-plus channel service for high-quality video content (including the latests TV music shows and programs).

Toshiba W61T will be available via KDDI, the second largest mobile carrier in Japan, which serves almost 30 million subscribers. There is no word about the phone's pricing and it is highly probable that it will not be launched for other markets.
