Toshiba's latest product introductions and press releases have mostly dealt with laptops and hard drives, but it seems the company is ready to pay some attention to its Flash storage families of memory cards and flash drives. To be more specific, Toshiba Electronics Europe has issued a press release describing its newest microSDHC and Class 10 SD cards, as well as a number of USB flash drives.

The fresh flash drives from Toshiba stick to what works, being designed for the USB 2.0 interface, and are built with “an innovative slide mechanism that allows for single-handed opening.” The devices have storage capacities of 4GB, 8GB, 16GB, 32GB and even 64GB and are fully compatible with Windows 7. In addition, all the newcomers boast environment-friendly packaging, with 60% less plastic, and are accompanied by a five-year warranty. Maximum speeds are of 17MB/s when reading and 3.9MB/s when writing.

Catering to the needs of professional photography and other applications that rely on flash memory, Toshiba has also launched a number of microSDHC and SD cards. The microSDHC products comply with the Class 4 specification and have a minimum transfer rate of 4MB per second. This is rather noteworthy and especially useful in the case of larger-capacity versions, such as the new 16GB model. This microSDHC memory card also features a bundled SD adaptor, allowing it to be employed in a wider collection of electronics. As far as the SD cards are concerned, they comply with the Class 10 specification, thanks to their 20MB/s read and 10MB/s write speeds.

Like the flash drives, the memory cards' packages use 60% less plastic and are lighter than regular blister packs, which also means a higher delivery efficiency and, thus, a lower delivery cost. Those interested in either device or the company's full product collection may find additional information on the Toshiba Electronics Europe official website.
