Following the release of Lenovo's latest line of portable computer systems, featuring AMD's mobile platform, the Sunnyvale, California-based chip maker appears to have landed another design win, for its power-efficient Neo processors. Toshiba, one of the world's leading vendors of personal computer systems, announced today the debut of its new line of Satellite T100 series of laptops, featuring AMD's Turion X2 Neo, Athlon X2 Neo and Athlon Neo MV-40 processors.

“The emergence of the low-cost ultra-thin category has quickly proven that consumers do not need to give up performance for mobility,” said Carl Pinto, vice president of product development, Toshiba America Information Systems, Inc., Digital Products Division. “The Satellite T100 series provide the right blend of features with the right form factor to meet a broad set of computing needs.”

The new series has been kicked off with two new systems, the T135D and the T115D, featuring a 13.3-inch and 11.5-inch displays, respectively. Both systems will feature the company's new Media Controller software, as well as the Toshiba ReelTime and Bulletin Board applications, as well as Microsoft's latest Windows 7 operating system.

This model is available with a choice for one of the aforementioned processors, coupled with 4GB of DDR2 RAM and a 320GB (5400RPM) hard drive. Additional features include 802.11 b/g/n wireless and Bluetooth V2.1+EDR, eSATA/USB combo port with USB Sleep-and-Charge function, HDMI, 5-in-1 card reader and built-in webcam with Toshiba Face Recognition software. Powering the laptop is a 6-cell battery pack that is rated at up to 6 hours and 13 minutes of runtime.

The smaller, 11.6-inch T115D model, offers pretty much the same specifications, with a choice for an Athlon Neo X2 or Athlon Neo MV-40 processor, the ATI Radeon HD 3200 graphics chip, 2GB of DDR2 RAM, a 250GB hard drive and all of the other connectivity options that are available on the T135D model.
