If anyone wanted to know what Toshiba would be focusing on next, or at least fueling more money than usual into, this piece of news might be relevant.

Basically, Toshiba has begun building a new NAND Flash chip manufacturing plant, meaning that it will be heavily involved in the SSD and memory card markets.

It should release a fair few hybrid HDDs as well, over the next years.

The Fab 5/phase 2 will be built at Toshiba's Yokkaichi Operations memory production facility in Mie Prefecture.

Construction work will be done by the middle of 2014, but operations will likely begin just one year after that. It has to do with hiring workforce, conducting safety inspections and quality tests, etc.

Toshiba will supervise market trends to see what equipment investments and production levels to set.
