Toshiba has finally unveiled its Portégé M800 notebook that is expected to ship in a limited edition. Previously demonstrated during this year's CeBIT trade show in Germany, the notebook is targeted at fashion-concerned users that need increased horsepower for their computing applications.
The 13.3-inch notebook is extremely portable and features a pearl-white finish with a silver contrast and white LED outline, a perfect blend of fashion and state-of-the-art technology. However, the manufacturer plans to ship a limited number of Portégé M800 notebooks, so its availability will be limited to selected markets in Europe, the Middle East and Africa.
"At Toshiba we are constantly looking to marry the best of design with state of the art technology and features", said Thomas Teckentrup, General Manager, Toshiba Computer Systems Division, Europe. "The Portégé M800 is further proof that lightweight, purist design and functionality do not exclude one another. At around two kilograms, the Portégé is truly ultra portable computer whilst still offering users a broad range of features", he continued.
The fashionable notebook sports a 13.3-inch TruBrite WXGA display, able to render maximum resolutions of 1,1280 x 800. It measures 314 x 229 x 35 mm and weighs in at about 1.97 kilograms. Under the pearl-white hood there is an Intel T5750 Core 2 Duo clocked at 2GHz that works in conjunction with the GM965 chipset (X3100 integrated graphics).
The Portégé M800 comes with a measly 1 GB of DDR2, which is actually its biggest design flaw. It also features a 250GB hard drive, a DVD burner, 802.11 wireless in the a/b/g/n flavors, two USB Sleep’n Charge ports, Bluetooth 2.1, FireWire, Dolby Sound Room, integrated 1.3-megapixel webcam and USB/eSATA ports.
The company did not announce pricing information for its limited-edition Portégé M800 notebook, but it is expected to hit the European retailers' shelves during the third quarter of the year.
