Microsoft seems to indeed remain the only company still investing in Windows RT, as more and more vendors actually dump the tablet OS and go for the full version of Windows 8.

ZDNet is reporting that Toshiba, one of the manufacturers that continue to rely on Windows for the most part of its business, has absolutely no plans to embrace Windows RT, but instead goes for the full version of the operating system.

The company’s customers “need a full x86-based unit and a full operating system,” Toshiba's B2B product marketing manager Cindy Zwerling was quoted as saying, so the Surface 2 might after all be the only tablet on the market running Windows RT.

Windows RT has remained a fairly disappointing product, pretty much because of its limitations, as users are not allowed to run legacy applications and are only limited to Windows Store apps.
