Two storage devices are ready to be tested by IT administrators

HDDs continue to be the primary storage solution for long-term deployments, so Toshiba has decided to offer two drives for mission-critical enterprise applications.

Part of the MG series, they are called "MG03ACA400" and "MG03SCA400."

For the most part, they are identical, with 4 TB capacity each, a size of 3.5 inches and a platter rotary speed of 7,200 RPM (rotations per minute).

What does set them apart is the interface. The former uses SATA, while the latter is a SAS unit.

More importantly, Toshiba has implemented a sanitize overwrite function which, at the behest of IT administrators, can write a predetermined data pattern across the entire user storage area of the disk.

This erases all previously written data beyond all hope of recovery. It is useful when reallocating and redeploying the storage devices, or when retiring them for good.
