There are many types of storage devices on the market, most of them being aimed at PCs, but there are still a fair number of external solutions intended for multimedia, and the STOR.E TV+ developed by Toshiba is the company's latest HD-ready multimedia drive capable of streaming content to HDTVs.

The STOR.E TV+ is just the latest product to be added to the STOR.E series and integrates not only HDD functionality, but also an extra set of features.

Basically, this electronic is meant to stream music and video content to HDTVs and has not only 2TB of internal storage, but also a SD (SDHC), MMC and MemoryStick card reader.

What's more, the drive is equipped with 10/100 Ethernet connectivity, USB, Composite Video and HDMI outputs.

What's more, a remote control ensures that one can easily send commands from any part of the room, for an added level of convenience.

"Today an external multimedia hard disk drive is capable of acting as much more than simply as a backup and storage device for digital content,” said Marco Perino, General Manager Digital Life Products and Services.

“It is also able to serve as a media hub for the home that controls multimedia streams between connected devices,” he added.

"This truly adds value as it allows to view footage captured in nearly any format on a TV without need of tedious transcoding on a Pcm" Perion went on to saying.

Needless to say, the STOR.E TV+ multimedia drive fully supports HD video quality and crams all of the aforementioned 2TB of storage and extra connectors into a frame measuring 206 x 160 x 46.5 mm.

No prices have been mentioned, but Europe, Middle East and Africa should see this product reaching their stores later this month.

Finally, a version of the Toshiba STOR.E TV+ with WLAN connectivity, via a bundled USB dongle, will be launched some time later.
