The storage market has been seeing a strong inflow of platter-based and Flash-based solutions over the past few months. New products included USB flash drives, solid state drives, hard disks and optical drives. The worldwide market is recovering, as is obvious from the many positive quarterly earnings being published by hardware makers one after another. As such, it makes sense for the various technology players to maintain this inflow of devices.

The newest portable hard disk drive duo that Toshiba UK reportedly plans to unleash is known as the StorE Art 3 and features one model with 750GB of storage space and another one with a capacity of 1TB. They both use the 2.5-inch form factor. Naturally, being portable, they are designed with the necessary aesthetic value-adding gloss finish, as well as a rubber edge meant to enhance portability. Additionally, the two units come with their very own internal shock sensors.

Of course, it wouldn't be worthwhile to implement advanced physical features into a USB 2.0 HDD if it didn't have matching performance and reliability traits. As such, the StorE Art 3 models boast built-in data encryption and password protection, so that the files stored are not easily accessed and tampered with by individuals with less than honorable reasons. Not only that, but to also make sure that the units perform admirably as backup solutions, they are pre-loaded with the NTI BackupNow EZTM software. This tool lets users backup the entire PC with a single click of the mouse, as well as restore it in case Windows fails to start.

It goes without saying that the duo will not need more power than that supplied via the USB 2.0 port in order to operate. The 750GB StorE Art3 will be available with a black enclosure, whereas the 1TB version comes with a black case. Both should start selling sometime during May 2010.
