Anyone wondering when a certain Toshiba device would launch needn't scratch their heads too much, not with leaks coming in about when Canada would receive it.
The Toshiba Regza AT700 tablet will be released in February, 2012, in Canada.
At least, this is what
Mobile Syrup claims to have discovered, since 'official' data doesn't fit with the report.
Technically, the official website says that the release will occur in January and, sure enough, this is something we learned
back near the end of November.
Still, the new report is adamant that the true unveiling won't happen sooner than two months or so from now.
For those who want a reminder, the product measures 10.1 inches in diagonal and is powered by the TI OMAP 4430 Cortex A9 dual-core processor (clocked at 1.2GHz).
Also, the LCD (liquid crystal display) has a native resolution of 1,280 x 800 pixels.
Other specifications include a pair of cameras (2 megapixels front, 5 megapixels back), micro HDMI, Bluetooth, WiFi and Android 3.2.
Toshiba even threw in a battery that can last for up to 8 hours on a single charge.
What really makes the Regza AT700 stand out, though, is its qualification as the thinnest and lightest Android tablet in the world.
This title was not lost when the ASUS Transformer Prime showed up, since the Tegra 3 tablet's thickness of 7.87 mm and weight of 586 grams has nothing on the 7.7 mm and 558 grams of Toshiba's invention.
Unfortunately, even with all the rumors and hype surrounding this, there is still no way to know how much it will cost when sales begin.
Its performance/price ratio will have to be good enough for consumers to choose it over Tegra 3 devices, so we might be looking at something quite a bit below the $500/479 Euro mark (exchange rates say $500 is 373 Euro, but European tablet prices blissfully fail to reflect this).
