Closely following in the footsteps of Alienware, which has just announced an updated Area-51 M15x laptop boasting Intel's high-end Core i7 mobile processor, Toshiba has also announced today that its Qosmio X500 gaming laptop will provide customers with a choice for a Core i7-720QM processor, part of Intel's latest generation of computer processors. The laptop is designed to enable a high-end gaming and multimedia experience on a portable PC, while mixing Intel's latest processor with high-end graphics chip solutions from NVIDIA.

Boasting a large 18.4-inch TruBrite Full HD 16:9 LCD screen, the new laptop has the potential of becoming your next-generation multimedia platform. The system can support a maximum resolution of 1920 by 1080 pixels and is packed with a Blu-ray (BD-RE) optical drive and Harman Kardon speakers, for a true, rich multimedia experience. However, the Qosmio X500 is also ready to take on any of the latest gaming titles, providing users with a choice for true desktop replacement.

The X500 is also designed as a portable gaming rig, as it boasts Intel's latest Core i7 720QM processor, clocked at 2.8GHz and featuring 6MB of L2 cache. The system can support up to 8GB of DDR3 memory, an impressive 1TB of storage (with two 500GB 5400RPM hard drives) and an NVIDIA GeForce GTS 250MNV graphics chip, featuring 1GB of memory. The system also comes with integrated Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/Draft-N and Bluetooth 2.1 wireless solutions, a trio of USB 2.0 with sleep-and-charge functionality, one USB/e-SATA port, 5-in-1 card reader and a couple of technologies that are meant to make the user's experience more pleasant.

Toshiba's new Qosmio X500 is expected to become available in Europe starting next month, but pricing is still to be unveiled.
