The GeForce GTX 460M mobile graphics solutions has been prowling the market for a while, and Toshiba has just taken it under its wing, even equipping it inside the Qosmio X500, its high-end 18.4-inch gaming laptop.

As all PC suppliers, Toshiba has a number of laptops that are exclusively aimed at the high-end gaming and enthusiast markets.

The Qosmio X500 is one of these laptops and has now gotten even more powerful with the addition of this GPU.

The GTX 460M obviously supports DirectX 11 graphics and has 1.5GB of GDDR5 VRAM, plus a memory interface of 192 bits.

This card complements the Core i5 or Core i7 mobile processor that customers should choose to equip their machine with.

The laptops also boasts two storage drives, either hard disks or solid state drives, plus a DVD or Blu-ray drive.

The list of specifications also includes 8GB of RAM, a 5-in-1 card reader, an ExpressCard slot and harman/kardon speakers, for high-quality audio.

“The Qosmio brand is about bringing the extreme performance gamers and HD content creators crave without the extreme price,” said Carl Pinto, vice president of product development, Toshiba America Information Systems, Inc., Digital Products Division.

“With the new NVIDIA GeForce GTX 460M GPU, consumers can now take advantage of a sophisticated graphics engine optimized for the newest and most demanding DirectX 11 games,” Pinto added.

“The Qosmio X500 delivers an enthusiast-class package equipped with everything needed to fully enjoy and create high-definition content,” the VP went on to saying.

Other features include an eSATA/USB combo port, three USB 2.0 ports, IEEE 1394 and Dolby Home Theater audio technology.

The Toshiba Qosmio X500 is pre-loaded with Microsoft Windows 7 Home Premium or Professional 64bit and has a starting price of $1,299.99. It will start shipping on September 26.
