Information on Toshiba Portege G500 has been upgraded and is set for a launch next month. It was just about time for this to happen, as nothing new has been revealed about it lately.

Toshiba Portege G500 has several features which make it worth the wait. It is not about the design. Although sleek and elegant, the handset looks like nothing out of the ordinary. It is a slider phone with a black case, smooth lines and rounded corners, which makes it suitable for both women and men too.

Unfortunately, it might prove to be rather thick, at its 22.9 mm for those who have grown used to slimmer devices. Moreover, at 135 grams in weight, this slider phone competes with many smartphone models which usually come in heavier forms.

The Toshiba Portege G500 phone has a 2.3 inch display screen and an average 2-megapixel camera for providing captures of medium quality. There is also a secondary camera which can be used for placing video calls. The device is capable of fully supporting wireless push email and Internet browsing. Moreover, it is capable of HSDPA and WiFi connectivity, as most evolved mobile phones are nowadays.

Probably the most interesting aspect about this Toshiba Portege G500 handset is the fact that it comes with fingerprint recognition. This is one of the most evolved technologies used in mobile phones nowadays and has been seen mostly on Japanese devices. The fingerprint sensor can be used for navigation through the phone's menu but also for securing personal data and making sure that nobody else has access over it.

Other specifications for this mobile phone also include Direct Push Email as well as Bluetooh 2.0, USB and WiFi technology. It is capable of supporting a large number of media files which can be stored on the microSD card of up to 2GB that it supports.

Toshiba Portege G500 will be available for purchase starting with the beginning of August for the estimated price of USD 600.
