Toshiba could be prepping a Broadwell 2-in-1 of its own

You might remember that Toshiba introduced the Portégé Z10t tablet/laptop hybrid last year. The device offered the convenience of an 11.6-inch display that could be used in concert with a detachable keyboard dock and sold for a premium price tag.

Now it appears that Toshiba has a follow-up model, one that will take advantage of a larger, more spacious 12.5-inch screen. It will be called Portégé Z20 and has just been caught going through the FCC.

The documents don’t reveal much information about the product, but it makes sense to assume that the 12.5-inch convertible will take advantage of Intel’s next-gen architecture.

The system is likely to remain a premium Windows 8.1 tablet, in the vein of its predecessor. But the 2013 model used an Intel Haswell processor, so the newcomer should take advantage of a new Core M Broadwell chip.

Intel’s new low-power chip architecture is especially designed to go into thin and light 2-in-1 convertibles coming with a fanless designs and larger form factors.

The FCC documents tell us that the new Toshiba will take advantage of dual-band 802.11Wi-Fi and Bluetooth 4.0.

It could be possible that Toshiba plans to market the new 2-in-1 in time for the holiday shopping frenzy, so more details about the upcoming product will probably be made available soon.
