Releasing new NAND Flash storage chips seems to be just one small part of what Toshiba is up to these days, considering the fact that another press release has it promoting some new mobile computers.

The thing about notebooks is that not a month (usually) or week (sometimes) goes by without some new model making it out into the light.

This is because they have performance comparable to that of desktops in a portable form factor, not to mention battery life much higher than they used to possess, so users always want more of them.

Eager to capitalize on this, Toshiba issued a press release in which it details the P750/755 and P770/775 notebooks.

The P750 3D and P755 3D are powered by Intel's Core i3, Core i5 or Core i7 central processing units while featuring 15.6-inch screens (complemented by active 3D shutter glasses).

Both have up to 8 GB of RAM (random access memory) and hard disk drives with capacities of up to 750 GB, plus the GeForce GT 540M discrete graphics card from NVIDIA.

Meanwhile, the P770 3D and P775 3D measure a nice 17.3 inches in diagonal and have the same processor and GPU options as their siblings.

The 770/755 lack 3D functionality, but their performance capabilities are no less impressive.

For one, the CPU options also extend as high as Core i7 models, while storage capacity can be of the same 750 GB as above. Even the 8 GB of RAM are present, as is the same GPU.

The Satellite L is the only one that can really claim to stand apart, with its display of 13.3 inches and the GeForce 315M GPU (provided one doesn't just stick to the integrated graphics). The storage and memory options are the same, however, as is the optical disk drive (Blu-ray).

“The Satellite P750 / P755 and the Satellite P770 / P775 offer a perfect blend of premium entertainment features, productivity capabilities and a highly-durable textured design,” says the formal announcement.

“The entertainment powerhouses will be available during the second quarter of 2011 in Europe, Middle East and Africa.”
