Toshiba Corporation today released the company's latest miniSD memory card with a storage capacity of 2 GB, part of the extensive range of large capacity miniSD memory cards.
Consequently, this new miniSD card, which measures only20.0mm(W)21.5mm(L)1.4mm(T), and weighs 1gr, adds 1GB of storage capacity to Toshiba's dedicated series.
The manufacturer explained the reason for the development of such a small memory card, saying that the mobile market demands new storage devices that can handle more complex data such as photos, music, videos, not only addresses or phone numbers.
But the crucial argument was offered by the same mobile manufacturers who tend to decrease the size of all their products in order to make space for an almost weird design and for the most important feature - mobility.
It seems that, even if Toshiba's latest miniSD card is much smaller than a standard SD memory card, it was developed to offer larger storage capacity. More than that, as its main function is to serve all mobile devices, it comes with a special adaptor in order to fit into standard SD slots.
The latest Toshiba-branded miniSD will be available worldwide in mid June 2006.
