When launched, Toshiba’s Kirabook notebooks were among the first products of their kind to sport a higher-than-1080 resolution. Since then, we have seen several other companies release models with capable screens.

Yet, the Kirabook still remains a decent notebook, especially since Toshiba is updating it with Intel’s 4th-generation Haswell chip architecture, in order to provide an extended battery life (up to 9 hours) and an improved performance, reports The Verge. The laptop is also equipped with 8GB of RAM and 256GB of solid state drive.

Other than that, the new Kirabook will ship with a 13.3-inch multi-touch screen with a capable resolution of 2560 x 1440 pixels. The display has been coated in a nice protective layer of Corning Gorilla Glass, so don’t worry about the occasional scratch and bruises.

The Kirabook is actually a pretty sturdy device, as its case is made of securing, light magnesium alloy. Speaking of light, the notebook weighs only 2.6 lbs / 1.7 kg and measures around 0.7 inches / 18 mm.

The new Toshiba Kirabook will be available starting mid-February with a starting price set at a hefty $1,500 / €1,101 (lower with $100 / €73).
