Last year, Toshiba rolled out an impressive notebook series under the Kirabook moniker. As time passed the company was expected to start gearing up to unleash the next generation by the end of the year.

The devices in this line sport a beautiful 13-inch display with a powerful resolution of 2,560 x 1,440 pixels, enough to rival the Chromebook Pixel or Retina display MacBook Air. Kirabooks drew power from a 2GHz Core i7-3537U CPU, coupled with 8GB of RAM.

Now the PC manufacturer has pulled the veil off two new updated models of Ultrabooks, the Dynabook KIRA V654 and Dynabook KIRA V834.

The first one is definitely the most impressive of the two. Boasting a 13-inch display with 1,366 x 768 pixel resolution, it’s not a touch-enabled machine, but there’s a good reason for that, increased battery life that the company claims can reach a whopping 22 hours. Toshiba has also managed to make the Ultrabook weigh just 1.12 kg / 2.46 lbs.

Users can opt for a high-resolution model with a resolution of 2,560 x 1,440 pixels, but you “only” get 14 hours of battery life here. Of course, the KIRA V654 draws life from an Intel Haswell processor coupled with 8GB of RAM.

The Dynabook KIRA V834 features pretty much the same specifications as the high-resolution V654 model, except that it features a touch-enabled display. Both products offer 128GB SSD, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 4.0 and DT Studio sound. They also come pre-installed with Windows 8.1, Office Home and Business 2013 and Adobe Photoshop Elements 11.

The two devices will become available in Japan starting November 20 with the Dynabook KIRA V654 price starting at $1,446 / €1,070 while the touch-capable model KIRA V834 will cost $1,530 / €1,132. As for the rest of the world, we have no idea when we’re going to see the products.
