Toshiba K01 is one of the latest mobile phones officially unveiled with Microsoft's Windows Mobile 6.5 operating system on board, and now the handset has been caught passing through FCC's courtyard with support for AT&T's and T-Mobile's airwaves. The device was announced last month during the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona, and it is one of the two Windows Mobile 6.5.3-based phones Toshiba is set to launch on the market during the ongoing year, along with the Toshiba TG02.

The handset that just received FCC clearance for use in the United States sports a 1GHz Snapdragon processor inside, along with a 4.1-inch AMOLED capacitive touchscreen display, coupled with a side sliding QWERTY keyboard. The model that went through FCC boasts support for 850/900/1800/1900 GSM/EDGE frequencies, and as well as Wi-Fi and Bluetooth capabilities.

We should also mention that this is the first-ever mobile phone from Toshiba to include an Organic Light Emitting Diode (OLED) display, as well as the fact that the K01 sports a very slim form factor, as it measures only 12.9mm front to back. With that 1GHz CPU inside, the phone should prove appealing enough to users, in case it is priced accordingly, of course, even if that Windows Mobile 6.5 OS it runs under is not be updated to the newer Windows Phone 7 OS (except via an unofficial ROM, as is the case with the highly-popular HD2 too).

Other features that one should expect be present with the new handset from Toshiba include a new user interface, which the company says has been designed to offer fast access to favorite features, as well as a microSDHC memory card slot with support for up to 32GB of additional storage space, so that one can easily carry around music, movies, personal files and more. Unfortunately, there are no details available on when the new phone might land on the market, nor on the price tag it might feature.
