14 DAY TRIAL // Toshiba has announced the Canvio for Mac Portable Hard Drive lineup, three storage units shipping with 500GB, 750GB and 1TB storage capacities that not only look great, but come pre-loaded with backup software developed with the Mac user in mind. The drives start at $99.99 for the 500GB model.
“With consumers across the country constantly amassing more ‘digital valuables’ – from photos, videos, and favorite music to important personal documents – Toshiba is proud to offer Mac users the compact, easy-to-use Canvio for Mac Portable Hard Drive lineup,” the electronics maker has announced today. “Continuing Toshiba’s commitment to make backing up and recovering data simple and easy, the new Canvio for Mac line provides Mac owners 500 gigabytes (GB1), 750GB, or one terabyte (TB) of storage space, with pre-loaded Mac-customized backup software,” the company’s official report reads.
According to Toshiba, many users believe backing up their data is a complicated process, therefore are ignorant to the importance of having their data replicated on another storage device. This is why Toshiba decided to make the process a bit easier with its Canvio for Mac line, by including NTI Shadow 5 for Mac, a program that permits the creation of fully-customized backups, as well as synchronization.
Customers can back up specific folders, certain file types, or even perform a complete system backup and recovery of everything that is saved on the Mac. Selected items can be merged and synchronized, while customers can adjust the frequency of backups to different periods of time. Password protection is also a key feature of the included software, Toshiba says.
Aside from these benefits, the drives are compact and feature an anti-slip design for easy portability. The USB-powered drives also boast an internal shock sensor and ramp loading technology to help protect data.
