Toshiba hasn't been so generous with new notebook designs recently, although most of its competitors have already rolled out a couple of new products since the start of the new year. However, the company seems to have learned its lesson and has now introduced a couple of new products in Europe, part of its line of Satellite laptops, which have been dubbed A500 and U500 and will be available in two different form factors, namely 16-inch and 13.3-inch. Designed to provide users with a high level of portability and performance, these new laptops are both built to provide users with a range of hardware configuration options.

First off we have the 16-inch Satellite A500, which comes with an HD Toshiba TruBrite 16:9 format and a resolution of 1366 by 768 pixels. Designed using Toshiba's new Fusion finish and IMR (In-Mold Rolling) technology, the new laptop can be equipped with an Intel Core 2 Duo or AMD Turion X2 Ultra Dual-Core (Satellite A500D) processors, up to 8GB of memory, a 500GB hard drive (a 64GB SSD option is also available) and a Mobility Radeon HD GPU with up to 1GB of DDR3 VRAM.

At the other end we have the more portable 13.3-inch Satellite U500, which also comes with a new and sleek design, providing the end user with support for Intel Core 2 Duo processor, 8GB of DDR memory, a 500GB hard drive and ATI's Mobility Radeon HD 4570 GPU, featuring 512MB of DDR3 VRAM. Weighing in at just 2kg, the new laptop from Toshiba comes packed with some of the company’s unique utilities, including the touch-pad with Multi-Touch Control, Toshiba ConfigFree and Toshiba's Face Recognition software.

Both laptops are expected to become available come next month, with prices starting at just 699 Euros, including VAT.
