Toshiba, the well-known Japanese high-tech products manufacturer, will release its latest smartphone, the Toshiba G810, on June 20. This launch date coincides with what the company has said back in February, when the G810 was first
announced.

To start with, it seems that the G810 will be released only in Taiwan and Hong Kong, but the Japanese company will surely also offer the smartphone in most parts of the global market later on. An explanation for this is to be found in the quad-band GSM (850 / 900 / 1800 / 1900 MHz) and tri-band HSDPA (850 / 1900 / 2100 MHz) connectivity packed into the device, which makes it suitable for about any mobile network from most of the countries around the globe. Sure, the G810 won't work on CDMA networks, but since most of the countries have at least one GSM / HSDPA network, the smartphone can be commercialized, as I said, almost everywhere.

Toshiba G810 comes with a simple design but that suits it very well. The device weighs 120 grams and measures 110 x 58 x 14 millimeters - which is not much, considering the fact that it's almost a Pocket PC.

Among the features that Toshiba packed into the elegant G810, we have: a 2.8-inch touchscreen display with 240 x 320 pixels and 65K colors, an intuitive user interface, GPS plus A-GPS, Wi-Fi, a 3.15 Megapixel camera with auto focus and video recording, secondary camera for video calls, Bluetooth 2.0, Music player, FM radio (RDS included), USB and microSD card support.

The smartphone runs on Windows Mobile 6.1, therefore it brings applications like Pocket Office, Outlook, Internet Explorer and Windows Media Player.

In conclusion, Toshiba G810 looks like a good option for users in need of a nice-looking and high-featured Pocket PC. For the time being, its retail price is not known, but it will most probably be over $500 (325 Euros).
