Toshiba is, apparently, going all out at this year's IFA 2009 show in Berlin, as the company continues to showcase and roll out new products. Following the introduction of its first Blu-ray-equipped laptop, the Satellite P500, Toshiba has also announced the new Journ.E Touch media tablet, a device that is to provide users with access to the Internet and some of the most widely used media applications on the market.
Built to be portable and allowing users to take advantage of their favorite media files, the new tablet has been featured with a small, 7-inch display that can output images at a resolution of 800 by 400 pixels.

Inside the new Toshiba Journ.E Touch media tablet, the company has included a low-power processor, built on the ARM microarchitecture, coupled with 1GB of built-in storage. Users have the possibility of expanding that with the help of an included SD card slot. In addition, the device has been featured with 0.5W speakers and is reportedly going to become available with Microsoft's Windows CE 6.0 Pro operating system. Choosing Windows CE over Android was reportedly a decision that took into consideration the lack of application support for the Google platform.

Additional features of the new Toshiba media tablet include the 14mm-thick design and the HDMI output, which will enable users to connect the tablet to a full-HD display. The Journ.E Touch also comes with a built-in WiFi connectivity and a USB port to connect an external storage solution.

The new tablet should be made available in the fourth quarter of this year, coming with a price tag of approximately 250 Euros. Taking into account the specifications and the overall design, the Journ.E Touch could be considered Toshiba's debut into the world of Mobile Internet Devices, better know as MIDs.
