That tablets will come like a tsunami upon the 2011 International CES is already a given, but a certain model from Toshiba seems to have made an early appearance on video, showing off its Honeycomb OS.

Those that have been keeping an eye out for any tablets running Android 3.0 will have probably heard of the one Toshiba has prepared.

While its name was not revealed, it was revealed to be powered by the NVIDIA Tegra 2 SoC (system-on-chip).

The Android 3.0 honeycomb operating system is one that promises to run better in every way compared to the Android 2.2 version, otherwise known as Froyo.

Unfortunately, since Honeycomb hasn't yet been finalized, Toshiba's prototype tablet was loaded with the 2.2.

It was that model that was caught on video by the folks over at Engadget even before CES started, getting a general feel of what one can expect from the product.

Apparently, the product is quite thin and the display left the Engadget team with a good impression.

It was also revealed that Toshiba implemented the Resolution+ upscaling technology, which can improve video and picture quality.

Some may remember that the Resolution+ technology is the same one used by the outfit's range of HDTVs.

Granted, playing media to an auxiliary screen via HDMI will, of course, still be preferred, but the fact remains that video quality is still more than decent even on that small panel, meaning that one will definitely be able to enjoy films or other such things on the go.

As for the actual build, the video has faith in the device's sturdiness and complimented the rubberized back.

What remains to be seen is how long it takes for the Honeycomb-loaded final version to come out and how it matches against its inevitable competition.
