Ahead of the coming Kickstarter funding effort the development team at inXile reveals that it plans to launch Torment: Tides of Numenera during the month of December 2014.

The game will ask fans of the concept to contribute funds to its development starting on March 6, although at the moment the studio has not said how much money it wants to get from the community.

inXile states on the official site of the game that, “Numenera’s Ninth World is a fantastic vision of a world in which massive civilizations have risen and fallen – disappeared, transcended, overwhelmed, or destroyed – and left their cities, monuments, and artifacts behind. “

Leading developer Brian Fargo has already revealed that the game would be a spiritual successor for Planescape: Torment, tackling the same themes with a number of similar mechanics, but using an entirely new world and cast of characters.
