The development team at InXile announces that it is pushing back the launch of its upcoming Torment: Tides of Numenera because it is currently focusing on the work needed to launch its other project, Wasteland 2, in August of this year.

In an official blog post, the company explains that at the moment, the title is still in pre-production and that more time will be spent in this phase, as the team working on the classic role-playing experience creates a better schedule for the future.

InXile adds, “Wasteland 2's success in Early Access allowed us to spend more time improving it, which also meant we had more time in preproduction on Torment. We've had more time to prototype, improve tools, iterate on our processes, etc. before entering full production. This has been a great thing for everything, except for our release date.”

Torment: Tides of Numenera is designed to offer a classic role-playing experience and to act as a spiritual sequel for Torment: Planescape, the fan favorite that was launched in 1999.

The experience is created using money gathered from a Kickstarter campaign and InXile has managed to raise more than 4 million dollars (3.1 million Euro) from gamers.

Torment: Tides of Numenera will use the Unity engine and will introduce an entirely original game world.
