The development team at inXile is delivering the first official in-game screenshot for its upcoming Torment: Tides of Numenera, showing off one area of the game called the Bloom.

Developers are telling VG247 that the screenshot was created using 2D pre-rendered background techniques.

The Bloom has previously been revealed by the inXile team as a location that is itself sentient and can use its tendrils to grab elements from various realities and bring them in.

The area is filled with potential threats and parties of adventurers can be transported to new areas very quickly.

The Bloom also serves as a trading hub, allowing players to pick up gear and resources.

Torment: Tides of Numenera is being funded via Kickstarter, where the project is open for another 4 games, and the party-based classic role-playing game will be launched during 2014.
