14 DAY TRIAL // Not too many months ago, Tori Spelling was moaning in a new book and to the press that she and husband Dean McDermott were so strapped for cash that, at one point, he wanted to get a vasectomy and they realized they couldn’t afford it. Clearly, either that was a gross exaggeration or those days are gone.
Before the cheating scandal that made them interesting enough for reality TV again, Tori made an issue of how hard their life was because she’d been raised to expect certain things from life and, with her and Dean’s salaries, she could no longer afford them.
Tori is the daughter of the late TV producer Aaron Spelling, a legend in the industry. He was also incredibly rich but, because they had a falling out shortly before he died, he left her with nothing in her will.
The shock of going from daddy’s most spoiled girl to someone who actually has to pay for her own stuff (or at least for most of it) must have been huge, or so Tori made it sound like.
However, over the weekend, out of all her financial problems, she still managed to cough up $6,000 (€4,434) for her daughter Stella’s 6th birthday party, Radar Online reports. Either “broke” means an entirely different thing for Tori than for the rest of the world, or she made a killing from her Lifetime deal, for the series that documented her marital drama, True Tori.
Whichever it is, paying this kind of money for a kid’s party still seems a bit excessive, and even some of her most die-hard fans are criticizing her in comments to the post in which she details all about the party, which took place at the Le Chic Spa in Tarzana, California.
If she used the money from the show to pay for this whole thing, she would have been wiser to invest it or even to put it aside for the kids when they grow up.
Tori posted photos of the food and the treats lavished on Stella, which also included a chocolate and cucumber facial. Whereas kids usually play pin the tail at this kind of parties while indulging in hot dogs and sweets, Stella played at getting all glammed up while savoring sushi, organic fruit, and other culinary delights.
The party included Tori’s other children and about 18 other people. The kids invited walked home with gift bags, which were actually backpacks with Disney DVDs, beauty products for kids, and other trinkets, says the aforementioned publication. They too got manicures, hairdos, and had their makeup applied by professionals.
“Tori managed to pull off a really great party on her own. She has been working full time on her new series, Mystery Girls, and caring for their four kids on her own with Dean away filming. She’s really a strong woman, and she’s obviously a super mom... just ask Stella!” says an insider.
Dean too came from Canada, where he’s shooting a show, to spend a day with his baby girl on her birthday, with the entire family celebrating the day before this spa party.
