When her famous TV producer dad Aaron Spelling died, Tori was left with almost nothing because he had excluded her from his will and her mother Candy would not even hear of helping her out. Today, Tori Spelling is still working in showbiz but, she admits in a new interview, she’s far from doing well financially.

Though she’s had several TV projects throughout the years, wrote books, and reinvented herself as a blogger and entrepreneur, Tori claims she’s so broke that she and her husband Dean McDermott actually had to scrap plans of getting a vasectomy.

A simple Google search reveals that the cost of a vasectomy ranges from $300 to $3,500 (€217.3 to €2,535.5) so if what Tori is saying is true, then it’s clear that her family has seen better days. However, the fact that she’s talking about her financial woes as part of the promo for her new book makes it somewhat odd.

The former “Beverly Hills 90210” alum also tries to explain why she had such a hard time adjusting to life after her father died.

“I haven’t bought a purse in three years. And it’s fine. I look back on that girl who shopped at Gucci in my 20s and I can’t even relate. I can’t believe I thought it was important,” she says, as cited by the Daily Mail.

“It’s no mystery why I have money problems. I grew up rich beyond anyone’s dreams. I never knew anything else. Even when I try to embrace a simpler lifestyle I can’t seem to let go of my expensive tastes. And then there’s my shopping problem. I’ve bought ridiculous amounts of stuff for the kids, clothing, toys, crafts,” she explains.

Tori blames herself for her money problems but, looking on the brighter side of things, at least now she knows she has a problem and she’s working on it.

Another reason for why she’s broke now is the fact that neither she nor Dean has any kind of job security.

“We’re in the entertainment business and things change year to year. We don’t have a series on the air right now, so we have to be more restrictive of what we can spend, just like anyone who doesn’t currently have a steady job,” she says.

She promises she’s trying to raise her children differently from how she was raised.

Aaron Spelling died in 2003 and Tori was devastated when she found out he’d only left her less than $1 million (€724,428) in the will, because they didn’t get to reconcile before he passed. He was one of the richest people in TV and all his money went to Candy, Tori’s mother. The two mended broken bridges just recently.
