Tori Spelling, former “Beverly Hills 90210” star turned reality star, businesswoman, author and blogger, has a new book out and, among other things, it also includes an account of a chance meeting with Katie Holmes, described as a “plastic robot” who can’t sing to save her life.

According to a new report, the backlash to the comment was so intense and Tori was so harshly criticized for it that she ended up in the hospital sometime last month, while she was on tour promoting the book, “Spelling It Like It Is.”

Radar Online claims to have it on very good authority that Tori was rushed to the hospital in the middle of the tour and needed a few days off under supervision because she could simply not handle the negativity anymore.

“Tori was hospitalized for stress and anxiety for a few days because she was receiving a lot of negative feedback about revelations she made in the book and she had no anticipation that it was going to hit a nerve,” says a trusted but unnamed source.

“Tori didn’t think making comments about a chance encounter with Katie Holmes would cause such a ruckus. She just grew very anxious about having to defend her actions in the book in media interviews and decided that she needed to go to the hospital,” the insider adds.

She was put back on her feet and released after a few days but, according to the tab, the uproar over the comments is still to die down completely.

However, from what we’ve seen online, it seems people were mostly upset by the fact that Tori found it weird that Katie didn’t know she had kids of her own because, as she put it, “You’re in the public eye. Don’t tell me you don’t follow the tabloids. Don’t tell me you don’t know anything about other celebrities and their kids.”

It’s true, she did say that Katie was acting like a “plastic robot,” but the fact that she was genuinely upset that Katie didn’t know details about her personal life was what most irked.
