The Tor Project has released an update to its Firefox-based browser bundle for surfing the web anonymously, adding compatibility with the latest extended support release of Mozilla’s browser.

Tor is your best friend if you’re the type who wants to protect their privacy and defend against network surveillance. Developed and maintained by an open source community, the TOR project is based on the Onion Routing, once a secret project of the U.S. Naval Research Lab.

For all platforms, Tor Browser Bundle 3.6 updates the software with Firefox 24.5.0esr, NoScript 2.6.8.20, fte transport 0.2.13, Tor Launcher 0.2.5.4, and Torbutton 1.6.9.0.

The new version includes license files for component software in the Docs directory, hides bridge settings prompt if no default bridges are found, shows the help button even if there are no default bridges, improves the download warning dialog text, and completely removes the hidden toggle menu item.

Backport Pending Tor Patches include additional obfsproxy startup error message fixes, while the build for Windows and Mac prevents the install path from leaking in some JS exceptions. As usual, the latest Tor versions are available from Softpedia at the links below.
