Being trendy can, at times, come at too high a price. The same goes for the latest IT shoe with celebrities and not only, the Spicy (or Spicy Sandals) from Louis Vuitton, which retails for a whopping $2,200. Luckily, there are other options to looking just as fabulous and they come from Topshop, which is offering a loyal replica of the now iconic shoes for only a fraction of the price.

Women have always tried to follow trends set by celebrities, but were often in a position where they could not afford them financially. This is where the Primal Voodoo sandals come in: priced at only $170, they offer the same unique and bold combination of feathers, beads and leather in a classy and stylish package. The only downside to this is, of course, the fact that these shoes, as opposed to the Spicy, are mass-produced, which means chances are other women will be wearing them as well.

However, this can be easily overlooked, especially since several fashion magazines (Grazia included) have labeled the Spicy shoe the hottest accessory of the season, a must-have for all ladies who are well-off from a financial point of view.

If the last part does not apply, then there’s the Topshop version, an equally elegant and bold creation that combines unlikely elements for a dash of youthful trendiness and style. Coming in two models, faux snake skin, and brown and red, the Topshop platforms are enjoying their moment right now – whether they will do so with you too is entirely up to you.

Speaking of the Spicy and how it is now an iconic accessory, one must also mention that this is also due to the many celebrities who have worn it in public. Stars from Madonna, Heidi Klum and, as expected, Victoria Beckham have all stepped out wearing a pair of these fabulous platforms, each of which is handmade and decorated differently. So, for $2,200 what one actually gets is not a regular pair of footwear, but a genuine work of art, which should put its owner in a league of their own.

“I think it’s popular because it’s such a great shoe – it’s really fun and jolly, and is a proper work of art. Its birth was at about three in the morning, with Marc [Jacobs] cutting up bits of snake, leather, leopard and ribbon, and the design team making masks to put on the front. Nearly every pair in the show was unique, which I think people also like.” Katie Grand, editor of Love magazine and stylist for Louis Vuitton, was saying for the Daily Mail a while back about the popularity of the Spicy shoe.
