Award-winning iPhone developer ngmoco has updated two of its most popular titles, namely Topple 2 and Star Defense. Versions 1.3 (Topple) and 1.1 (Star Defense) offer players full control over iPod music playlists without leaving the app interface, and the ability to expand campaigns or engage friends using a Direct Challenges feature, respectively.

Topple 2 fans may remember that recent updates allowed them to send multiplayer challenges through Facebook and Twitter, as well as to see other players’ scores from around the world and invite them to go head-to-head.

“ngmoco is excited to include iPhone OS 3.0 functionality in our award winning Topple 2,” Neil Young, CEO and Founder of ngmoco, said. “This update will give users more control of their iPod music and is a perfect follow-up to our previous social and game-play expanding updates.”

The latest Star Defense update also builds upon its predecessor, including a new planet in Challenge Mode. According to ngmoco, players can now track their challenge scores on live leaderboards and compare their rankings with others across the globe.

Young added that, “Direct Challenges via Push Notification Service provide a compelling, new way for Star Defense fans to stay connected anytime, anywhere.” According to the development studio, iPhone OS 3.0 will give developers more control and functionality, offering means to personalize their applications and, ultimately, providing a great experience to the end users.

Topple 2 is priced at $2.99 and can be downloaded via the iTunes App Store using the link below. Star Defense is available now for $5.99 from the same location (second link). Both games require iPhone OS 3.0 and are compatible with all iPhone and iPod touch models.
