Automotive fans have a big reason to celebrate, as the world's most beloved television car show, “Top Gear,” is said to have more seasons programmed for the coming years, with no end in the foreseeable future.

Andy Wilman, a “Top Gear” executive, told Broadcast that there were talks going on at that time at BBC to plan the next series with Richard Hammond, Jeremy Clarkson and James May as the presenters. There had been some speculation about the fate of the show when news had emerged that the presenters' contracts would all expire in 2015.

The main argument of the producer was, “When we look stupid or when we think we are flogging a dead horse [we'll stop], but that hasn't happened this series,” while admitting that “It's better than the last series, which was a bit ropey.”

The latest series of Top Gear happens to have premiered earlier this month, and the initial numbers speak of 5.34 million viewers, with the last episode registering a slight increase with 5.55 million on Sunday, February 23.

Wilman put fans at ease when he said, “There's clearly an appetite, it's still there. So, we'll start talking [about future series] soon.”

Since its revamp in 2002, Top Gear has become one of the most popular car shows in the world, as well the world's most widely watched factual television program.
